Lenovo intends to enter the server market business. Since the company bought IBM in 2004, it developed products for small and medium-sized businesses. Along the ThinkPad laptops and Think workstations, Lenovo will line up its new corporate x86 servers based on IBM's System x technology. In spite of using the same technology, Lenovo won't compete with IBM, but will boost IBM's licensing and financing business.
Currently, Lenovo sell servers in China, but the company plans to distribute the servers worldwide next year. IBM will continue to distribute its System x servers under its own brand name.
Lenovo's competitors are HP and Dell. Last year the top vendor was HP (30% of the market), followed by Dell and IBM. Since Lenovo is addressing especially for small and medium it could get a big share of the market.
