The news that Dell will drop out AMD processors is not true at all. In fact, Dell prepares to launch a line of business-oriented PCs based on AMD processors.
The new products code-named “Heineken”, will be released under the OptiPlex brand - OptiPlex 740 and 740 Enhanced. The first one features either a single or a dual-core Athlon 64 and GeForce 6150LE graphics/chipset. The OptiPlex 740 Enhanced works with triple-core and quad-core Phenom processors and GeForce 6150LE or nForce 430 motherboards.
According to TGDaily, Dell plans to launch new systems in the near future. The systems in discussion would use the upcoming Peruses platform – which combines AMD's triple-core or quad-core Phenom processor, AMD’s new chipset as well as ATI RV7x0 based graphics cards.
It seems Dell will still use AMD processors and it might get some success as well. AMD Tri-Core Phenom processors could perform better than Intel's dual-core.
