Intel prepares to launch its Atom CPU which would another successful processor like Pentium. After the company had cod-named the CPU Silverthorne, the Atom was unveiled. It was built on the same platform as 286 CPU and could be a perfect low cost solution for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and Nettop computers with prices well below the $200 range.
Internet rumors said Atom's price could be in the range between $29 and $49, but some industries said it would rather cost "$6-$8". It could be the cheapest CPU on the market. The news claims the "$6-$8" is the real deal including the production/packaging/shipping cost for the CPU, excluding the Poulsbo chipset. For the moment Intel didn't announce official the price, but we will see.
