Some rumors have announced AMD's next-gen graphics processors to show up in just two months. Accordingly to the news, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company which handles the chip production for both AMD's graphics division and Nvidia, is preparing the "pilot production" stage for future AMD RV770 GPU.
The idea of launching the RV770 GPU in June comes from the fact that at the same time is scheduled the Computex trade show, which will take place in Taipei, Taiwan. Nothing official was said, but the GPU might launch "shortly before or after" the show.
The RV770 processor could appear in high-end Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 4870 graphics cards. The 4850 Radeon would run at 850MHz with 512MB of 900MHz GDDR5 memory, while the 4870 would run at 1050MHz with 1GB of 1100MHz GDDR5 RAM. Furthermore, both models will have 480 stream processors, unlike the previous versions which have 800.
