Today Research in Motion (RIM) has officially announced the new business smartphone of its line. The stylish mobile was called BlackBerry Bold, but you will find it also under the BlackBerry 9000 label. This time the Waterloo, Ontario-based RIM has made some buzz. The company's shares rose $6.33, or 4.8 percent, to $139.10.
I will call it Black Beauty, because indeed I love this smartphone. RIM kept their classic line, elegant and neat, but they added more style and high-end features. BlackBerry Bold was designed with a "satin chrome finished frame and stylish leather-like backplate". To give you a quick opinion, I will put down a list of specs:
- Tri-band HSDPA
- Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g)
- Half-VGA (480×320 resolution) color LCD
- 128 MB Flash memory plus 1 GB on-board storage memory
- 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, built-in flash and 5x digital zoom
- 16GB microSD/SDHC card support
- Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 support
- iTunes support via BlackBerry Media Sync
- integrated GPS and supporting applications like BlackBerry Maps
- 5 hour talk time, 13 days stand-by
BlackBerry is an excellent business phone because it comes with a rich set of features including multimedia capabilities and tri-band HSDPA support for high-speed networks. It is scheduled to be available from wireless carriers (AT&T, then T-Mobile) beginning this summer.
