After one and a half year Windows Vista is still behind the original forecasts. The software has penetrated only 5 percent of the business market because of compatibility issues with other applications and hardware. Nevertheless, Microsoft sold over 140 million licenses and claims Vista the best selling OS ever.
However, the times changed and Vista got the first Service Pack which brings more stability and enhanced security. That would be the reason for deployment in those companies that were unsure to switch from Windows XP to Vista. "Adoption is accelerating, especially now we've got SP1 out," said John Curran, UK head of the Windows group at Microsoft.
Credited sources explained that "the majority of enterprise rollouts will be this year". Now the hardware support is ready to have Windows Vista. With 4GB of RAM and a 2.5Ghz processor the desktops won't have trouble running Vista. Some companies even said Vista was expected impatiently because more of their applications are compatible with Vista than XP SP2. In addition, Vista would raise the productivity in offices and would reduce energy bills due to its excellent power management tools. Now coming with increased efficiency Windows Vista marches toward the top.
