I surely find this router interesting. The CradlePoint router creates a Wi-Fi hostspot using broadband mobile connection. The CTR500 model supports Express Card and USB style cellular modems for EVDO and HSDPA networks. It uses the 802.11b/g standards and features external antenna support, which is not included in the package.
But for more details let's take a look at its features:
- Fully compliant 802.11b/g router
- Supports external 802.11 antenna (not included)
- Compatible with Express Card and USB style cellular modems (EVDO and HSDPA networks)
- Supports select handsets via USB cable
- 10/100 Ethernet port switchable as WAN or LAN
- Auto-failover mode for a compact broadband source backup solution
- Configurable adult content filtering and phishing protection
- Cellular signal strength indication on top panel eases site selection
- Powered by WiPipe™ technology
I must say I am quite impressed with this one. The CradlePoint CTR500 router represents a good addition not only for regular travelers, but also for businessmen. It fits right in your pocket, and the producer claims that CTR500 is the world's most compact router that is able to support BOTH Express Card and USB-style Cellular Modems. Its wizard helps you install it easily. You can optionally use the RJ-45 Ethernet port with a wired LAN to give you easy shared wireless access when available. Also you don't need to worry about phishing attacks because this router offers good security.
The CTR500 is bundled with a 12-volt car adapter and retails for $180. The shipping begins on June 1st. Definitely the CradlePoint CTR500 Cellular Travel Router is a great deal!
